InstallationGEM is straightforward to install on any Windows PC. However consultants can perform this task for a nominal charge.TrainingGEM does many things entirely automatically for you that other systems do not. If users approach GEM and continue with old habits, they may not get the best out of the system. Watching the demonstration videos or reading the ‘System Overview’ in the user manual or CD case before starting, will orientate the user’s thinking correctly. The on-line Help System or User Manual on the Distribution CD can then be used to fill in the details as required. Consequently, separate training is not essential.If Clients wish to ‘hit the ground running’ then training is available either through On2it Software at their offices, or through a local consultant. ConversionGEM has an Export Wizard that will extract data from any ODBC compliant data source - which is just about anything these days. So even if your existing system does not have an export routine, there is a high probability that your data can still be extracted. GEM's Iimport Wizard will then import as data from as many data sources as you like - whilst checking that the Organisation or Person is not already in GEM using 'Fuzzy Logic' that mimics human thinking. This enables Users to import names and addresses from almost any legacy system using simple drag-and-drop techniques to connect fields between the two systems. Users can either do this for themselves or ask their Consultant to assist. Such work will be quoted separately, or charged on an hourly basis, as the amount of work involved can vary significantly depending upon the quality and organisation of the data in the old system. |
