Design Philosphy - Using the system MUST be easier than not using the system

That way people will WANT to use it - thus keeping it up-to-date.  If using a system is seen as an additional task, then it won't get used!  It does not matter what company policy is, if it is something else to do and they're short of time, it won't get done.  However if it saves them time, then it will be used to reduce the pressure of their work.  GEM therefore encorporates countless productivity features to speed the job up and avoid mistakes - far too many to list here.

For example the system 'knows' there is only one 'Melbourne' in 'Victoria, Australia'.  So when you input an Address in 'Melbourne' it will add 'Victoria, Australia' for you.  (It also knows that there is a 'Hamilton' in both Canada and NZ - so won't autocomplete for you!)

Every dodge that we could think of that a human being could reasonably infer from the data, has already been built into the system.   It has almost human like intelligence, with the total recall of a computer.
